Opt-Out of Receipt Collection (ABCS Insights)

Last Updated: October 7, 2025

1) Scope & Sources of Receipt Data

ABCS Insights (“ABCS,” “we,” “us”) may receive receipt-level purchase information (“Receipt Data”) from you and from third-party data vendors and receipt-collection partners you choose to connect (collectively, “Receipt Partners”). Receipt Data can originate from:

  • Images of paper receipts you capture and submit within enabled apps or features.
  • Digital/e-receipts retrieved from email inbox connections or retailer/loyalty program connections you enable with a Receipt Partner.
  • Retailer transaction feeds transmitted by retailers or loyalty programs you link.

Receipt Partners operate their own products and services. Their collection and use of data are governed by their terms and privacy notices. This section explains how ABCS uses and how you can opt out of ABCS’s receipt collection and subsequent use.

2) Categories of Receipt Data We May Receive

Depending on your connections and the fields made available by Receipt Partners, Receipt Data may include:

  • Transaction metadata: date/time, store/merchant, store location, order/receipt ID, subtotal, taxes, discounts, total, payment method type (e.g., credit, debit, cash), loyalty indicator.
  • Line-item details (where provided): product descriptions, quantities, unit price, brand/manufacturer/category, coupons applied.
  • Identifiers: a pseudonymous user or household ID that is not reversible to you.

We do not intentionally receive or store full payment card numbers, full bank account numbers, or government ID numbers via receipt collection.  None of the data collected contains name or address or email addresses.

3) Legal Basis & Your Consent

By enabling a Receipt Partner connection or submitting receipts, you authorize that partner to collect and process Receipt Data under its terms and to disclose such data to ABCS for the purposes described below. Where required by law, we rely on your consent and/or our legitimate interests to provide services, analytics, advertising measurement, fraud prevention, and product improvement.

4) How to Opt Out of Receipt Collection

You may stop future receipt collection at any time. Because receipt ingestion often begins with a connection you created with a Receipt Partner, some steps occur in their interface and some with ABCS:

A. Stop manual paper-receipt uploads

Simply discontinue submitting receipt images in any enabled apps or features. No new Receipt Data will be created from paper uploads you do not make.

B. Disable digital/e-receipt inbox scanning

If you connected an email inbox or similar service through a Receipt Partner, revoke the partner’s access in that partner’s settings and/or within your email provider’s security settings. Disconnecting the inbox stops future e-receipt retrieval.

C. Unlink retailer/loyalty program connections

If you linked retailer or loyalty accounts to automatically send e-receipts, unlink those accounts within the Receipt Partner’s settings (and, if applicable, within the retailer account). This stops automatic future transmission.

D. Submit a privacy request to ABCS

Contact us at https://abcsinsights.com/do-not-track/ to request that we stop ingesting new Receipt Data for your account and to delete previously received Receipt Data associated with your ABCS identifiers, subject to legal retention obligations.

E. Exercise rights with Receipt Partners (recommended)

Because Receipt Partners independently collect your data, you may need to submit requests directly to them to delete or disable their copies and connections. ABCS will honor any requests made by Receipt Partners to remove/disable your data within 24 hours.

Processing time. Please allow reasonable time for systems to reflect disconnections. Some features may continue to function with previously cached data until removal is completed.

5) Effect of Opt-Out

  • Functionality impact. Features that rely on receipts (e.g., rewards, audience building, conversion measurement, or personalized insights) may be limited or unavailable.
  • No new collection from disabled sources. After you disconnect or opt out, ABCS will not ingest new Receipt Data from those disabled connections.
  • Previously collected data. You may request deletion. ABCS will delete or de-identify previously collected Receipt Data unless retention is required for fraud prevention, security, auditing, tax/financial recordkeeping, or legal compliance.
  • Signals from partners. ABCS will honor partner-provided opt-out/withdrawal signals that are correctly tied to your identifiers.

6) Our Use of Receipt Data

We use Receipt Data to:

  • Provide and improve ABCS products and services (including receipt parsing, deduplication, and error correction).
  • Build aggregated insights, audience segments, and privacy-enhanced measurement/attribution for advertisers and retailers.
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse; ensure security and integrity.
  • Conduct internal analytics, forecasting, and product development. Where possible, we use pseudonymization (e.g., hashed identifiers) and de-identification/aggregation. We prohibit partners and clients from attempting to re-identify de-identified data except as permitted by law.

7) Sharing & Roles

ABCS may share Receipt Data with:

  • Service providers/processors that act on our instructions (e.g., cloud hosting, parsing/normalization, clean-room operations).
  • Integration partners (e.g., clean rooms, identity providers) to enable privacy-enhanced matching and measurement.
  • Clients in aggregated, de-identified, or pseudonymous form for analytics, audience, and measurement use cases. Depending on the integration, a Receipt Partner may act as an independent controller or processor of your data. ABCS’s role may also vary by integration. Details are available upon request.

8) Data Minimization, Security & Retention

We apply reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect Receipt Data, collect only fields necessary for stated purposes, and retain data only as long as needed for those purposes or as required by law. When retention ends, we delete or de-identify the data.

9) Regional Rights & Signals

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or opt out of targeted advertising or sale/share of personal data. You may exercise these rights via [email protected]. Where supported, ABCS honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) or comparable signals for applicable activities.

10) Children

ABCS services are not directed to children under the age specified by applicable law (e.g., 13 or 16). We do not knowingly collect Receipt Data from such users.

11) Changes

We may update this section as we add or remove Receipt Partners or as laws change. Material changes will be posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
